Wedding Trend Report 2019

Published on Wednesday, 1st May by Ceri Davies

From floral installations to unplugged ceremonies, here are our top wedding trend predictions for anyone planning a wedding this year… of course, let us say, you don’t need to incorporate trends into your wedding day, and we are so on board with that and the “you do you” school of wedding planning. Make your day your own, and have a bit of fun with it. Use a report like this to reflect and be inspired, and take from it what you wish.

Shall we begin?

Bohemian Style Wedding Dresses

Think floaty sleeves, flowing trains and lots and lots of lace! These beautiful gowns are so relaxed, yet absolutely breathtaking.

Floral Installations

The Megan affect at its greatest. Floral installations are set to be bang on trend this year and beyond.  Doorways, mantelpieces, staircases and of course hanging in ceiling spaces, floral installations work anywhere and everywhere – you can go as big or as small as you desire. We love the subtlety of a flower wall and a hooped backdrop  – as well as being beautiful they are also THE perfect backdrop for photographs!

Donuts!

Walls of Donuts are a fun way to create a childlike excitement, above all, giving your guests a tasty treat! Cakes with Donuts have also become popular in recent years, with Brides and Grooms choosing them over traditional tiered cakes for an interesting twist on a classic.

Unplugged Ceremonies

There has been a recent trend of “Unplugged Ceremonies” where guests are asked to refrain from taking photos and videos until after the ceremony. This is to try and ensure guests are present, in the moment and are completely focused on the couple, rather than on their phone.

Foam Free

Sustainable practices within the wedding industry were an important factor at Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding last spring, and are sure to be an equally important factor for couples in 2019 and beyond. Foam free floral arrangements and displays are being embraced, and the impact taken seriously.  Foam free doesn’t have to mean compromise, many of the designs that you might covet can be easily recreated with a few simple, and clever adaptations.

Grazing Tables

Grazing tables/boards are a great evening option as guests can pick and choose what they want, and get involved and be social. There is a real trend for healthier wedding food and alternative diet food right now, and so a grazing table is a great way to incorporate this into the wedding day.

Grasses

Neutral tones and a warm yet minimalist style have cropped up in interior design and fashion trends for this year, and it is so interesting to see how this has appeared on the wedding scene. Grasses and dried flowers are stunning, totally different and make such an impact. They are the perfect addition to a floral installation and a great for foam free arrangements. What’s not to love.

Clips + Slides

A beautiful alternative for Brides who want to break tradition and forgo and veil. These clips and slides are elegant and contemporary.

Colour: Coral

When pantone announced its colour of 2019, it was inevitable that coral tones would make it on to this list and into the weddings of the summer season. “Living Coral” is be bright and cheery but can be toned down and delicate. It is great for those who want to add a touch of colour or go all out with bridesmaid dresses, coloured flowers, cakes and makeup.

Illustrated Invites

Illustrated invites and wedding stationery is beautiful and so personal, and it is these personal touches that make every single wedding day different from the rest. Wedding stationery is such an easy and often cost effective way to add a little touch that says so much about you as a couple.

We’d love to know what you think of our trend predictions, and are so excited to see how this post inspires your wedding days.
